Homeless

I (we) invited you for a small house warming ceremony(?!) on Friday 13, 2007 for a small house we rented in Koramangala. A few months back we decided to move to a bigger or at least a better house due to the increase in the family size. :D Also santy needed a separate recording room for the music side of him. So officially we are done with this nice small place we lived for the past two years. It saw many of us grow. Apparently being a bachelor's home, we have not got a single complaint from the house owner or any of the neighbors. We were such nice kids!

Now, that doesn't mean that we have moved to our new house. No, we are homeless now! One of us is in a living room, mostly spending time with racing games in laptop and the other practices his guitar. Or if you are willing to find a A/C paying guest for the two, it would be awesome. :D So until then, don't come and ask me for my address.

The house warming ceremony for the new home is getting delayed because our chief guest is on vacation to US. And DK Arun is getting married to Shruthi. Will send across the invite once things are fixed. We will keep up to our promises like last year, be it kf or arogya, We will serve it good. There is also gonna be a special light music performance that evening!

Stay tuned for more updates..

Ah! Two years and so fast

Should I say, "Sigh!"?;-)

Until few days back I didn't know what this day means to me! A GMail status message to remind it's two years since well, two years back. :) The scarlet Ferrari was heading towards me today. These days,I see that in my Inbox many times. Some celebrate, some just note that day, some smile and move on. So yeah, yet another day to code! That's all.

Untitled

He wanted, wanted badly
To send it,
For his Dearly.

To tell that, still the
Cuckoo comes to its nest.
Lays its eggs and let it
hatch to next generation. That
Things would be fine.

Don't wait for the bells
To ring.
They seldom do.
Marking each path
With memories of this & that.
Move on!

He had a Convertible,
Two seats only.
Loved traveling alone.
The road will be fine and
He will be traveling alone.

Will stop by the bush
To pee and to get a cup of tea.
Sure will gaze at the stars,
Count them,
burp and move on.

Bored

This short vacation at home comes to an end. It's still like morning seven o clock when I got down at the Coimbatore junction. And now it's almost time to board again.Feels like proving those Physics lessons wrong when they said, "Light travels the fastest." Sir, Ain't time traveling faster? I almost squeezed all that needed to be done in this vacation other than cleaning that win32.bot virus from the old pc. Enjoyed Coimbatore weather, yeah as I promised my neighbour, I didn't step out of home. Mom still makes the peekangai poriyal and Vegetable biryani the same Godly tasty way.

And yeah, Chennai lost in the Semi's to its bitter rival Bangalore. Supporting Chennai when you live in Bangalore is hard. You find Bangalore supporters all around. ;) Still I managed to win words until the semis. Chennai played badly, they are to blame for the loss. No big score by any of the players and hence we failed. Surely Dhoni should plot and pick a good team next season. Please,no more Balaji. :)

Monaco GP was fun, watched the Brawn team cross the finish line 1, 2. A team that looked finished last December and today the number one contenders for the Championship.

I keep getting meticulous reminders of take this, take that. At last my Dad wrote this post-it and stuck it on the mirror at my height. I guess I didn't miss any of it. :) Now watching the Tamil version of Spiderman (Silanti-manithan)

Fwd: Philosphy of Marriage

When a man steals your wife, there is no better revenge than to let him keep her.

After marriage, husband and wife become two sides of a coin; they just can't face each other, but still they stay together.

By all means marry. If you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Woman inspire us to great things, and prevents us from achieving them.

The great question... which I have not been able to answer... is, "What does a woman want?

I had some words with my wife, and she had some paragraphs with me.

"Some people ask the secret of our long marriage. We take time to go to a restaurant two times a week. A little candlelight, dinner, soft music and dancing. She goes Tuesdays, I go Fridays."

"There's a way of transferring funds that is even faster than electronic banking. It's called marriage."

"I've had bad luck with both my wives. The first one left me, and the second one didn't."

Two secrets to keep your marriage brimming
1. Whenever you're wrong, admit it,
2. Whenever you're right, shut up.

The most effective way to remember your wife's birthday is to forget it once...

You know what I did before I married? Anything I wanted to.

My wife and I were happy for twenty years. Then we met.

A good wife always forgives her husband when she's wrong.

A man inserted an 'ad' in the classifieds: "Wife wanted". Next day he received a hundred letters. They all said the same thing: "You can have mine."

First Guy (proudly): "My wife's an angel!"
Second Guy: "You're lucky, mine's still alive."

Recession is finally doing good

I wonder if I really predicted this economic slowdown when I wrote about an alternate profession. Well, for now, I still do what I do best.

Its close to nice months since Lehman Brothers filled bankruptcy and some signs of recovery started to surface. But still we got a long marathon to run before things are stable again. This economic slowdown had its ill effects of many losing their source of income and sigh note when you talk to your friends who have been stuck up with this. But some good signs have really started to show up, in terms of the alternate profession each one is opting for!
IT is no more a preferred job by all!
  • Tamilnadu Public Service commission exam Group1 had record number of applicants to write the preliminary exam this year.
  • Union Public Service Commission exam UPSE has been a talk among many now a days.
  • I saw my roomies talk about ISRO and DRDO. It would be the highest profiled technical job in the Country. A recent test by ISRO had a record turn around of students.
  • There has been call for various levels of officers in Bank like Central Bank, Indian Bank, State Bank of India etc. Many students who are recent college graduates have opted and joined as probationary officers in the recent recruitment.
  • Interestingly many have started to go for higher studies. Instead of sitting at home, they are equipping themselves more in this slump period.
  • Railway exams for a post in Indian railways is also in demand.
  • I even find my friends wating to try their hand in cinematography!
All said and done, we are hoping people do not return back to IT under the impression that they can make more money in small time. Well that would only reduce the quality! Happy Coding!!!

Photosynth Love

I came across Microsoft Surface and Photosynth here. A Microsoft product that impressed me in recent times. Photosynth is a brain child from Noah Snavely (UW), Steve Seitz (UW), and Richard Szeliski (Microsoft Research). Thank You Genius! You ppl are awesome. It's capability is to create a 3D visual of 2D images while giving a very rich and smooth interface. The awesome thing is that it does everything auto magically. Just one click. I knew it was from Microsoft Labs, never really kept track of when it graduated as a public software.

So I decided upon a project on this a month back and started preparing. Educated myself on the do's and dont's of creating a synth. Some basics like the "Rule of 3" and covering the corners, etc. I decided to start with a living room in my Bangalore home. Fixed my tripod in the center of my room and started shooting. It really looked funny for my roomies to see me coming from work and doing this crazy photo shoot in the night. Then uploaded the photos to Photosynth site (you would need live ID to Login and Silver light installed to render). Then the cloud servers sitting in Redmond started chewing my images and gave me an output that blew me off.. :)

This is what I got! Explore this messy room.

I say it again, "I love this product." Thanks to the Photosynth team.

P.S. You would need Microsoft Silverlight to view the embedded.

Crossdressers - A head ache in Bangalore traffic signal

Unless you are inside a car with the window up, there is no escape from the cross dressers in Bangalore traffic signal. They demand money! No coins and change any more. They start only at Rs 10. They are respected in the society (at least they are not looked like a show piece..) and now this respect and space is taken to advantage.

If you are on a two wheeler or an auto rickshaw stopped in a signal, you are bound to give money. Else, they start touching and annoying you. Once myself and my friend were returning from a morning drive. It was a signal near Hebbal that we noticed two cross dressers collecting money. So we took a 5 rupee coin in hand to give it to them. One of them came and got it. Soon after the other one too came, asking for money. We said we already gave it to the other one. She replied, "I don't know her. You give money to me." WTH. "No", said my friend in a stern voice. She replied, "If you won't giving money, I will kiss you." (WTF) We gave more money! There is no escape route.

Doesn't the law prevent them from annoying us? Is there something that could be done?
